Hypersensitivity

13

Some individuals with autism are hypersensitive to sounds, smells, textures, tastes, balance, or light. This means that they are more sensitive to these things than people who don’t have autism.

These people are more prone to anxiety as a result of their sensory overload. This can make it harder for them to focus on tasks or even do anything if the stimuli are too intense.

Some of the symptoms of hypersensitivity in autism include:

– Difficulty sleeping

– Sensitivity to light

– Sensitivity to sound

– Sensitivity to touch

– Sensitivity to taste

– Sensitivity to smell

There are many different types of hypersensitivities that people with autism experience. Some people may experience one type of hypersensitivity, while others may experience many different types of them at the same time.
